Overview

Sands Eco 360° Global Sustainability initiative is a formalization of all of Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s best practices, technologies and methodologies in the area of sustainability across all properties rolled into one, integrated program, with a shared vision, mission and goals. The program builds and expands on the successes of the company’s best-in-class and award-winning sustainability initiatives at its Las Vegas properties, and is now being implemented at Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVSC) properties around the globe.

Sands Eco 360° is based on three pillars (People, Planet, Profit), all of which are required for a successful sustainability program. The first pillar is the company’s commitment to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all LVSC Team Members and a commitment to improve the quality of life in the communities in which it operates; the second is the commitment to sustainable development to minimize ecological impact evidenced through LEED – Silver NC (New Construction) certification for The Palazzo and LEED-Gold EB (Existing Building) certification for The Venetian and Sands Expo at Venetian|Palazzo; the third is working to manage costs through recycling programs, sustainable purchases, energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Broadly, Sands Eco 360° encompasses four key areas of sustainability, including the company’s construction; ongoing operations and environmental policies; purchasing policies; and education about its best practices and innovations to help others become more eco-friendly (employees, guests as well as other governments and corporations). These pillars include such areas as energy and water conservation; refuse sorting and recycling; working with vendors to innovate new, more sustainable products and technologies; and educating Team Members, guests and communities on ways they can contribute in their own lives. These practices do not compromise the luxury experience that distinguishes all LVSC properties around the world.

Why Did Las Vegas Sands Corp. create Sands Eco 360°?

Las Vegas Sands Corp. created this program because, quite simply, it was the right thing to do for people (guests, employees and communities), the planet and profit (commitment to provide value to shareholders). Further, many of LVSC’s properties are in geographic areas where there are limited natural resources, such as Las Vegas. Sands Eco 360° is a broad, comprehensive way for the company to respect and protect its local environment, natural resources, climate and the communities where it operates.

Sustainability is a cornerstone of LVSC’s business philosophy; the company is committed to being the preeminent sustainable development corporation in the world, and Sands Eco 360° program was developed to bring this commitment to life. The policies and practices that form Sands Eco 360° will provide long-term preservation and protection of the environment and natural resources, offer employees a safe and healthy work environment, enhance the experience of guests, and improve the quality of life in the communities where the company operates.

Also, “Green Business is Good Business.” For every $1 that is invested into the program, LVSC saves $4. It also answers the growing market demand for “green” facilities on the part of meeting and convention businesses, individual guests, local governments, communities and employees.

Besides the good work we do at our properties, LVSC is exporting the lessons we have learned from sustainability efforts and practices across all properties to other governments and companies. If more organizations adopt these policies and practices, the program will have an even greater impact on the environment, not to mention businesses. This ultimately leaves a legacy of a more responsible, cleaner and safer world for future generations.
